Spearman VS Tank

Anyone familiar with the Civilization games knows the story: A modern-era tank battalion descends upon the powerless enemy city, only to be miraculously sent packing by an ancient Greek hoplite with a freakish blessing by the random number generator.

How does that guy kill modern armor with a pointy stick? Hell if I know. But I picture it looks something like this.
